It was already expected to happen, and it did happen! Resident Evil Village has launched as the best Steam title in the series so far.
The latest entry in the horror franchise, Resident Evil Village, set a new Steam record of over 100,000 concurrent players.
The Capcom title made its debut last week on May 7th, 2021.

According to Steam Database, Resident Evil Village attracted 100,000 concurrent players on the gaming portal.
Just within 24 hours of its arrival, it gained around 101,726 concurrent players. That is, all the players were playing it online simultaneously!
With this, the latest entry also broke the record of Resident Evil Remake. It attracted nearly 74,277 players upon its release.
Furthermore, Resident Evil Village also smashed Resident Evil 7‘s record of 20,499 concurrent players on launch day.
Compared to last year’s Resident Evil 3 Remake‘s figure of 60,293, it also went past that.
On the other hand, Resident Evil 6 had just 11,879 concurrent players on its release.
At the time of writing, Resident Evil 8 is still in the top ten list of Steam‘s most-played games.
The popularity of the game has been so much that many players began modding the demons themselves!
Plus, the promotional teasers and gameplay trailers involving Lady Dimitrescu also resulted in increased and unmatched hype.
Major review portals have also given it a brilliant reaction. Metacritic has a fantastic score of 85 at the time of writing.
It will be interesting to see its growth in the coming days as more players start purchasing the copies to enjoy the experience themselves.

More big games arriving in 2021
Well, die-hard gamers at the moment are also waiting for many other AAA titles this year.
And some of the most-awaited potential blockbusters are Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Far Cry 6.
Halo Infinite, Horizon Forbidden West, a new Call of Duty entry, STALKER 2, and Dying Light 2 are also anticipated.
However, there’s more!
The line-up extends further with the likes of Death loop, New World, No More Heroes 3, Psychonauts 2, and Stray.
