Housemarque Games’ Returnal emerged as one of the best-selling PlayStation 5 titles for April, revealed a recent report from Sony.
Returnal has gained many positive reviews and reactions from both the critics and fans, despite some bugs and issues.
And the latest news only solidifies its growing popularity.
‘Returnal’ returning great profits to its developer!
In its recent data, Sony shared a list of top downloaded games for April.
And Returnal trumped other strong contenders to rise as the third-most downloaded PS5 title in the US!
In the UK and the rest of Europe, it was number four. That’s still impressive.
While this news is undoubtedly great for developer Housemarque, the game could’ve bagged the number one spot as well. At least in the US.
In another fresh release of 2021, Outriders managed to outperform Returnal, coming on the second position.
But there’s a catch here.
Outriders had entire April to sell more copies, but the Housemarque title arrived only on the last day of the month. And despite that, it secured a place in the top five in two regions across the globe.
Had it been released a bit early, the picture would’ve been drastically different by now. It would have ruled every other title with a considerable margin.
Here’s the complete list of Top 10 best-selling PS5 launches in the US for April 2021:
- MLB The Show 21
- Outriders
- Returnal
- Mortal Kombat 11
- It Takes Two
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- FIFA 21
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- NBA 2K21
- Madden NFL 21

However, that’s not everything. There’s more!
The big line-up continues further with the likes of Dying Light 2, Deathloop, Biomutant, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and Stray.
Psychonauts 2, New World, Humankind, GhostWire: Tokyo, No More Heroes 3, and Cyber Shadow are other crucial launches.
Several recently announced projects making a debut soon are The Day Before, Glitchpunk, and Etched Memories. The latter will be an exciting title for the players because it will feature a Cat as the main protagonist, named Biscuit.
Coming onto Returnal, again, it’s now available for PlayStation 5.
