It’s been three years since the Nintendo Switch launched, and we’ve seen a handful of amazing games already. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, one of the launch titles, is even a top seller to this day.
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is considered as one of the top games on the Switch. While the game is a huge departure from previous entries, it still manages to captivate the hearts of fans. To this day, the game remains at the top-selling lists of the console.
Still a top contender
A report by NPD’s Mat Piscatella reveals some of the top-selling games currently. Of all the games, one that truly impresses is Breath of the Wild. As per the NPD report, the game has been the top seven best-seller for 42 consecutive months.
US NPD SW – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the 6th best-seller of Aug on Nintendo Switch. It has ranked among the top 7 best-sellers on Switch for 42 consecutive months. It is as the 10th best-selling game on Nintendo platforms in US tracked history. pic.twitter.com/i1Zonk4Co8

More impressively, the game is the 10th best selling game across all consoles by Nintendo in the US. This comes as a huge surprise as the game is one of the launch titles for the Switch. Even after all these years, fans are still buying the game, and it even manages to get a few more along the way.
What makes it a big hit?
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is undoubtedly a great game. It’s a huge departure from the series as, for the first time, it featured a vast open-world. The game’s version of Hyrule is one of its biggest assets too. Fans are impressed with the amount of detail and sceneries in the game’s world.
Beyond that, the game also features a great story despite being mostly told in flashbacks. This is one of the many reasons why fans are excited about the sequel and the prequel titled Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity.
There’s a lot of hype behind The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, mostly because of the success behind the first game. Perhaps the only way to kick out the first game from the top is with the help of its highly anticipated sequel. Even that might not be enough to dethrone this launch title.
