Rick and Morty Season 5 is coming, and Chris Parnell shares details about the new season.
Rick and Morty creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon received the green light to make 70 new episodes when Adult Swim renewed it after season 3. At present, there are only three more episodes left for season 4, so fans are already eyeing the next season.
Rick and Morty season 5 update
According to Chris Parnell, who voices Jerry Smith, in the animated series, the next installment has been written already. It is partly storyboarded.
However, fans should not get too excited because none of the actors have started recording yet.
“We have not started recording Season 5, but I know they have, certainly, episodes written and have it boarded to a certain extent. But I don’t know when we’ll start recording,” Parnell told IGN.
Will coronavirus affect the production of season 5?
Fortunately, the pandemic won’t affect the production of Rick and Morty season 5. The actors need not meet to record their lines for the show; they can just do it on their own in the comfort of their homes.
Chris Parnell said that he upgraded his home setup so that he could record proper sessions at home.
“You know, as long as the studio does some safety protocols and stuff like that, it’s an easy situation to go into a booth and record and not have to encounter anybody,” he added.
How long will fans wait for season 5?
It is still difficult to say when Rick and Morty season 5 will premiere. However, it will certainly take at least a year or more.
Fans waited for a little over a year for season 2. Then, they waited for two years for season 3.
Rick and Morty’s viewers waited for another two years for season 4. The finale episode of season 3 aired on Oct. 1, 2017. Meanwhile, season 4’s pilot episode did not air until Nov 10, 2019.
Thus, it is safe to tell that fans might wait for a year or two for season 5.
According to Spencer Grammer, who voices Summer Smith, sometimes the show is delayed due to changes in the storyline. She admitted that this happens “a lot.”
At present, fans can still enjoy the remaining episodes of the current season.
