Rick and Morty Season 5 may have started, but the excitement is far from over. Fans are about to see more canon as the series continues.
Rick and Morty Season 5 has now dropped two episodes so far, and there are more to come. By its looks, there will be a lot of canonical changes, along with some serialized shifts.
The Changes Fans are About to See
In an interview with Variety, the animated series creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon revealed some changes that fans should be excited to see.
“[T]his season we have a lot of really fun evergreen classic Rick and Morty adventures,” Roiland said. “But like we do every season there’s going to be some cool larger serialized stuff that we’re going to hit.”
Roiland continued that he was 100% sure that fans would be pretty excited about their new offering.
“I’m really excited for it to hit. I think it’s one of the better seasons that we’ve had in quite a while,” he added.
Anyhow, Harmon chimed in and said he knew what Roiland told was quite weird, knowing they only had five seasons so far.
However, he admitted that though they had only had a few episodes, it was hard for them to keep track of “which moments happened where.”
Why? They were trying not to hint at the next episodes coming as they have been working on several seasons at once.

The Difference Between Seasons
“I believe that Season 5 doesn’t see very much of the space Beth versus domestic Beth kind of concept,” Harmon explained.
“But I also get a little tripped up when we’re writing Season 7, editing Season 6 and sound mixing on Season 5,” he added.
He even revealed a break from Rick and Morty Season 5, which might or might not be intentional.
From here, Season 6 would “a season of pickup in that.”
“But, as far as macro canonical stuff, there’s a big to-do in the Season 5,” Harmon teased. “I won’t say if it’s middle, beginning or end of the season. But we went there.”\
Episode 3 Preview, Spoilers and More
Meanwhile, Adult Swim has now dropped the preview for Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 3, titled “A Rickconvenient Mort.”
According to Comicbook, as the title suggests, it may be a “fairly environmental episode.” The fan-favorite duo is having a lot of fun when some acid rain ruins the day.
So, who does bring the rain? It is none other than the Saturday morning cartoon villain.
The very distinct Captain Planet parody will then challenge it.
Although Season 5 seems to feature more parodies this time, there may be something happening that no one can expect.
Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 3 will be out on Sunday, July 4, on Adult Swim at 11 p.m. EST.
