Riot Games announces Valorant Mobile, a mobile port of the unbelievably famous e-Sports FPS title all over the world.
Valorant Mobile came out of Riot Games’ press release today, detailing their Year One numbers. Apart from the title, there is no clear information on anything so far. Riot has not released any other detail, including its potential release date.
Valorant celebrates 14 million players worldwide on first year
The first year for Valorant is an overwhelming success, making pretty well for itself. The game has as many as 14 million players worldwide, with over half a billion matches done.
Now with the PC version firmly in its place, Riot Games is looking to go mobile. They are trying to supplant fellow FPS titles from the mobile gaming space, and for a reason.
Mobile titles tap some of the biggest markets on Earth, including China, India, and Southeast Asia. Games like PUBG: Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile are making bank for their devs right now.
Call of Duty: Mobile made as much as $10 billion in 2020, which is crazy. It helped increase the Warzone fanbase up to 300% too. Once COD: Mobile penetrated China, their new player base was equal to the rest of the world combined.
The money that mobile titles bring in is not a new thing to Riot. League of Legends: Wild Rift is also currently making Riot a lot of money.
Riot schedules month-long celebration, giveaways
There is no other clear information about Valorant Mobile other than the title. Even then, it’s not everything that Riot announced. It will likely be free-to-play too so it can compete with others and sweep a lot of that sweet microtransaction money.
Valorant will have a month-long celebration for their anniversary. This celebration means extra in-game swag for players of the game. These will include a redeemable player card, commemorative items, and a free event pass.
“One of our top goals this first year was to earn the trust and respect of the global FPS community, and to prove to them that Valorant will always uphold the fundamentals of a truly worthwhile competitive tac-shooter,” noted Anna Donlon, Executive Producer of Valorant.
“To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we’re trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could’ve expected and we’re thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players.”
Valorant Mobile has no release date as of yet. Riot recently released new lore for the game called Duality.
