Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) America is releasing the sequel to Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory with Fallen Legion: Revenants early next year.
As a sequel, Revenants picks up after the events that took place in Rise to Glory. The latter essentially a compilation of the two entries in the series that looks at the two sides of the story.
Multiple sides to every story
Fallen Legion: Sins of an Empire highlights the tale on the side of Princess Cecille who ascended the throne of the Fenumian Empire. But the real struggle comes from protecting the kingdom from the uprising of the military general, Legatus Laendur.
The second title in the collection, Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion, sees the story based on the purview of Legatus Laendur himself. In essence, giving players both sides of the tale after playing Fallen Legion: Rise to Glory.
How Revenants ties in with Rise to Glory is a matter of personal experience and revelation of the two games. But people with interest can rest in knowing that the former will follow an almost similar structure, albeit also differently.
Whereas in Rise to Glory the game takes place in Fenumia Kingdom, in Revenants, the game occurs in the floating castle, Welkin. The last bastion and haven of humanity, following a cataclysmic event that sees everything on land corrupted and hostile.
Troubles up above
While heavenly-sounding, Welkin Castle is not necessarily the ideal place to live in despite the ongoing calamity underneath. As a castle is often lived by a ruler that oversees the entire real estate, Welkin is a place governed by a dictator called Ivor.
With the game’s main antagonist revealed, it takes the young noble Lucien to overthrow the tyrannical leader. Along the way, this young protagonist will seek the aid of allies, including the revenant Rowena. The latter bearing an interesting story on herself as an undead who seeks to come back to life to raise a still-living child.
Gameplay-wise, Fallen Legion: Revenants should not be any different than Rise to Glory. It still follows the same combat system which, to RPG fans, would be reminiscent of Valkyrie Profile. But the game is also adding something new to the game—one that sees the protagonist able to navigate through the game’s politics towards meeting goals.
Similar to the previous entries in the series, Fallen Legion: Revenants will employ full English dubbing. It is uncertain, however, whether the Japanese dubbing will make it in this particular release.
