Riverdale fans from the US can now binge-watch the fourth season very soon. Netflix just announced that it’s coming to their platform next month.
Reports recently revealed that Netflix has already released their May 2020 list. One of the titles set to release soon in the US is the fourth season of Riverdale.
It is scheduled to hit the streaming platform on May 14. However, fans must take note though that it will only have 19 episodes instead of the promised 22 episodes.
Production had to be cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic. It was previously reported that one of the crew members had come in contact with an infected patient around mid-March.
The final three episodes
Riverdale writer Ted Sullivan confirmed earlier this month that the season will indeed be lacking three episodes.
Nothing to worry though because they are still going to air it when the show returns for its fifth season.
“We’ll still do it, but you’ll have to now wait for S5 instead of S4,” Sullivan wrote on his Twitter.
He also mentioned that the last episode of the current season is going to be a fun cliffhanger. Fans will just have to wait for season 5 to find out how everything pans out.
Renewed for season 5
The American teen drama series was renewed earlier this year. Even before the worldwide shutdown, it already got the green light for season 5.
It’s not known yet when it will premiere but considering the pandemic situation, it is most likely going to be pushed back.
The show always drops a new season in October. But that may not be the case now since filming for it is most likely going to be delayed.
As for the story plot, speculations about a time jump have been going around. This is based on the fact that two major characters are leaving the show.
It is already confirmed that Skeet Ulrich, who plays FP Jones, and Marisol Nichols, who plays Hermione Lodge, will no longer be moving forward to season 5.
There’s a high chance though that they will still be making an appearance for the last three episodes of season 4 and to probably wrap up the stories of their characters.
The last episode for season 4 will be coming to The CW on May 6, just about a week before the entire season will drop on Netflix.
It is titled Killing Mr. Honey and will start with the revenge fantasy of Jughead (Cole Sprouse) for Mr. Honey (Kerr Smith). He is going to submit the gruesome story of how their principal ruined their senior year to the University of Iowa.
Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
