The just-unearthed renders of the Galaxy M31s reveal a clean-looking rear panel, which suggests that an under-the-display biometric security feature could be in the works.
Samsung is truly bringing out the big guns in its now-expanding M series.
An exclusive leak, courtesy of 91Mobiles, gives us what appears to be the closest look of the upcoming Galaxy M31s. The leak features two renders, both of which are more than enough to know which end is up.
A tidy-looking rear panel
The first render of the mid-range Galaxy smartphone shows the back of the handset. In it, the phone features a tidy rear panel, which looks familiar if you’ve already experienced the Galaxy M31.
The only interruption on its rear panel is the inclusion of a camera layout which is rendered in an L shape. Note that the vanilla Galaxy M31 features an inverted L-shaped camera module. As it stands, the phone also has a quadruple-camera setup on its back.
Galaxy M31s: An in-display fingerprint reader in the pipeline?
Perhaps the more revealing part of this render is the absence of a mounted fingerprint reader. Now, since the phone is speculated to launch with an AMOLED screen, it is highly likely that the phone will launch with an in-display fingerprint scanner.
If this ever holds up, then the Galaxy M31s would be the first phone from the Galaxy M series to feature this advanced biometric security offering.
The device’s second render corroborates previous rumors that the Galaxy M31s would be launching with an Infinity-O display. The render shows a screen cutout which is placed conveniently right at the top center.
Interestingly, its host variant at the time of its launch featured a waterdrop notch design on its display.
A solid mid-ranger
Under the hood, the Galaxy M31s is pegged to be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9611 SoC. The chipset is then set to be coupled with 6GB of RAM. The company is also tipped to feature more options, in terms of the phone’s RAM and ROM offerings. For now, it is rumored that the device’s base model should be getting 64GB of storage, which may also be expandable via microSD.
The M31s is also tipped to feature a massive 6,000mAh battery, the same enormous offering that can be found in the regular Galaxy M31. Rumor also has it that a 64MP module will headline the phone’s rear camera system. The primary camera will also be accompanied by 8MP ultrawide, 5MP depth, and 5MP depth lenses.
The Galaxy M31s should be shipping with One UI 2.1, based on Android 10 when it finally gets launched. The phone is scheduled to go on sale on August 6.
