Thanks to leaker Evan Blass, we now have our first look at Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Fan Edition: SM-G780 (for global markets) and SM-G781 (for the U.S. markets).
Before anything comes to a halt due to COVID-19, Samsung was able to release the Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra, and a few days from now, the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra will be unveiled.
It is unusual to see Samsung launch devices that have not been part of their cycle. Earlier, before they launched the S20 series, they launched the S10 Lite and Note 10, with oddballs for its usual launch, and soon we will witness this kind of launch again.
Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE)
Fan Edition (FE) has been a moniker for other Samsung devices. A good example is the Galaxy Note FE. In the leak shared by Evan, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition might look like Samsung’s Vanilla S20. It comes with the same wallpaper and a cutout centered hole punch for the front camera.
Though the bezels are bigger than the Galaxy 20, its display seems to look flat. The FE will be available with and without 5G models globally, but in the U.S. only with 5G.
Back in June, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition’s tea was spilled by SamMobile, and according to their publication, Samsung is developing a Galaxy S20 with SM G780 as the model number. Though they did not discuss the specifications fully, we can safely assume that this FE will have 128 GB internal storage and Android 10.
What do tipsters suggest?
We can also assume that it has UI 2.5. Ice Universe, renowned leaker says that the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will have a 120 Hz refresh rate display, 865 processor Qualcomm Snapdragon, and a small hole- punch cutout 3.3 mm diameter.
It will have a triple camera consisting of 12 MP wide-angle, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle, and 8 MP telephoto camera that comes with 3x optical zoom, according to The Elec. They also said that the Galaxy S20 FE would be equipped with a 32 MP selfie camera, a 6.5- 6.7 inches screen size. The prices in South Korea are estimated at 900,000 won when they are released in fall (October).
Color variants, according to GalaxyClub, are green, orange, red, and white (in Europe). The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition’s phone battery capacity is 4,500 mAh.
We are still a few months away from its release and we do not know what exactly Samsung has in mind when they release this Fan Edition.
