The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was also benchmarked recently, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chip and 6GB of RAM in tow.
Key details surrounding the features and specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition have now been mounting. And there’s anything, this could signal that its release is nigh.
Shortly after the device was caught to have been benchmarked already, a slew of major speculations was hurled at the upcoming refreshed variant of the Galaxy S20.
Galaxy S20 Fan Edition: A high 120Hz display and IP68 rating
The latest to emerge is from Ice Universe who tipped that the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is set to feature a high 120H display refresh rate. While the leakster didn’t reveal the phone’s screen size and resolution, his source indicated that the phone would arrive with IP68 dust and water resistance.
The tipster also revealed that the smartphone would launch with a 3.3mm punch hole for its selfie shooter. Whether the cutout will be placed at the center or get positioned in the left or right corner is still up in the air. Note, though, that the vanilla Galaxy S20 features a display punch-hole situated at its screen’s top center.
Snapdragon 865 confirmed
Ice Universe also shared some major details about the phone’s internals. Accordingly, the device is slated to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Also, he hinted at the phone’s potentially “nice” price when it launches.
Qualcomm’s previous flagship chipset offering was also the same SoC spotted when the smartphone was benchmarked recently. In the same listing, it was revealed that the phone could arrive with a 6GB RAM variant. Its storage count is still a mystery at this point. Speculations are rife, though, that the phone will likely offer 128GB, alongside microSD card support.
The listing also indicated that the upcoming Fan Edition of the Galaxy S20 series would be shipped with Android 10, coupled with the imminent One UI 2.5 update. The said UI is tipped to debut with the Galaxy Note 20 series. Meanwhile, an update to Android 11 and One UI 3.0 is scheduled in early 2021.
A second variant?
Another speculation points that the device might arrive with a second variant, apart from the Snapdragon 865-powered version, of course. The second one is heavily rumored to be fueled by Samsung’s Exynos 990 chipset.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is tipped to be announced in August 2020, at Samsung’s Unpacked event.
