The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was previously spotted on the same platform, with Snapdragon 865 SoC and 6GB of RAM in tow.
Samsung might be releasing two variants of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, one of which will be powered by its Exynos 990 chip.
Galaxy S20 Fan Edition: An Exynos variant?
A new version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was recently spotted on Geekbench. Bearing the model designation SM-G780, the forthcoming variant of the Galaxy S20 series is seen with Samsung’s Exynos 990 SoC. The newest benchmark listing of the handset also revealed it would arrive with 8GB of RAM.
The latest development is key as this changes previous speculations that a Qualcomm chipset would power the device. Note that the Fan Edition of the lineup, sporting model number SM-G781B, was also spotted on the same platform a while back, with the Snapdragon 865 chipset and 6GB of RAM.
While there is no confirmation from Samsung about the rumored Fan Edition of the Galaxy S20 lineup yet, the rumor mill has been nothing but generous as of late in terms of leaks and speculations.
Infinity-O display with 120Hz refresh rate
For instance, there was this leaked image that indicated that the phone would be launching with an Infinity-O display. The screen is tipped to feature a FullHD+ resolution, alongside a high 120Hz refresh rate. An IP68 rating is also pegged to be in the mix.
Noted tipster Ice Universe also chimed in and revealed that the device would have a 3.3mm punch hole on its screen, housing a front-facing snapper. Nevertheless, the leaker did not disclose the placement of the display cutout.
The notorious informant also corroborated that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chip would power the smartphone, and its price would be “nice.”
Pretty much the vanilla Galaxy S20
In the camera department, a new report hinted that the special edition is set to borrow most of its configurations from the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S20+. This has quashed recent rumors that the phone would be debuting with Samsung’s new 50MP ISOCELL GN1 sensor for its primary rear camera.
If this holds water, then we’re likely to see the upcoming variant toting around the primary Sony IMX 12-megapixel sensor, which is mostly huge at 1/1.76-inch and has 1.8-micrometer pixels.
Its auxiliary sensors, on the other hand, should comprise the 12MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The phone is tipped to work on a 4,500mAh battery. It will be retailed in 4G and 5G variants.
The Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is speculated to arrive in Q4 2020.
