Samsung Galaxy S21 could push for a ‘glasstic’ future

Samsung Galaxy S21 could push for a 'glasstic' future

The Samsung Galaxy S21 could be another phone in the Samsung Galaxy line that features the company’s take on a ‘glasstic’ future.

This year, Samsung had four Unpacked events. It started the year with the release of the Galaxy S20 line up. After its release, COVID-19 happened, and it forced the company to release its succeeding devices completely online. It yielded positive results, to say the least. Because of the production delay, Samsung had to release their devices in tranches.

The first to be released was the Galaxy Note 20 line. It was then followed up by the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. After this, the surprise Samsung Galaxy S20 FE followed. Next year, the Korean company will most likely follow the same release pattern. Unfortunately, for the Galaxy S fans, they might have to deal with a future they don’t want.

Samsung Galaxy S21 may have a ‘glasstic’ finish

As more and more phones push its price tags beyond the US$1,000 mark, users expect to get more as well. However, Samsung is moving in the opposite direction.

Instead of giving a premium material finish to the Galaxy Note 20, it only used ‘glasstic.’ The Korean company only reserved the ultra-premium glass finish for the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Unfortunately, the next Galaxy S21 could expect the same treatment, according to Chun.

He tweeted that the next premium Galaxy phone could just come with a ‘glasstic’ finish at the back instead of a glass finish. Chun didn’t clarify if all the phones in the lineup will have this. He also said that he’s not 100% sure about whether this rumor is true or not.

Nevertheless, this rumor is not a good sign, even if it doesn’t even come true. The fact that Samsung is even considering shipping its most premium phone with a faux-glass finish is already turning many of its fans off.

S Pen support to come with Samsung’s new premium phones

Samsung will allegedly upgrade the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy Z fold lineup with an S Pen support. Just to clarify, an S Pen will not ship inside the box of the new phones. Instead, users can opt to buy the accessory to take advantage of the feature.

This rumor has another meaning to it. Having the Galaxy S21 support, the S Pen means that the Galaxy Note 21 will no longer have any differentiating factor. It is sandwiched awkwardly between two lineups that provide equal or even greater features and specs.

As such, there are rumors again drumming up that the Galaxy Note may be axed sometime soon.
