Samsung Galaxy A42: Full specifications
The Samsung Galaxy A42 has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display. Unfortunately, it only supports the HD+ resolution.
Since the phone has an LED panel, the phone can support a modern in-display fingerprint sensor. In the camera department, the phone comes with a Quad-camera setup lead by a 48MP main camera.
The back camera is supported by Ultra-wide, depth, and macro cameras. Moreover, the 20 MP front camera sits in a tear-drop style notch.
The phone’s RAM is available in three variants: 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB. Furthermore, the storage for all models is 128GB only.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the option to extend the storage with a MicroSD card is still available.
As for the power, the phone comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, which can charge at the maximum speed of 15W.
It is available in three colors, Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot White, and Prism Dot Gray. And, the cut-backs in the released specifications hint at a lower selling price.
Pricing and Availability
As per NDTV News, the Samsung Galaxy A42 will first arrive in the German market this November. The hinted price is EUR 369 (USD 436).
As compared to the previous budget segment phone launched by the renowned brand, the Samsung Galaxy A51 5G launched at EUR 430 (USD 507), making the Samsung Galaxy A42 drop at a fair price.
But as compared to the Mi 10T Lite 5G, which retails at about EUR 280 (USD 330), Samsung would have to make a solid case to compete with a similar phone at a higher price.
Another great competitor for a cheap 5G smartphone is the OnePlus Nord, which starts at about €399 (USD 471) in the European market.
However, the OnePlus Nord is not available in other regions but the UK, Europe, and India. But still, rumors of OnePlus to launch a budget 5G phone for the different markets are surfacing online.
