Sarah Ferguson openly supports Prince Andrew despite their divorce years ago.
The royal wedding ended early for both Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, but the wife remains true to her vow.
In the past weeks, Ferguson appeared in the picture again as the Duke of York deals with the lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre. Although she divorced him more than two decades ago, she still supports him and offers help whenever he needs to.
Recently, she jetted to Poland for a trip and spoke to a media outlet regarding her relationship with Prince Andrew.
According to Ferguson, she made a commitment soon after deciding to marry a royal prince.
She explained to Polsat News that Prince Andrew “was a sailor, he is still. He was a helicopter pilot and was also a prince. I kept my commitment, no matter what. People said: ‘You got divorced’… They don’t know how I feel. Divorce is one thing, but my heart is my oath, my obligation.”
It resonated with her recent comments about her ex-husband during her appearance on the British TV program Lorraine last month. At that time, the show’s asked her if she had faced an extremely challenging year so far.
Ferguson said that the pandemic affected everyone’s lives, bringing challenging days ahead. Despite that, she insisted that Prince Andrew is a good and gentle man. The duke is also a commendable father and grandfather.
Prince Andrew and Sarah’s relationship
On July 23, 1986, Prince Andrew and Sarah finally said, “I do.” Two years later, she gave birth to their first daughter, Princess Beatrice, but it ignited marital problems since the matriarch was all alone when she became pregnant.
According to Ferguson, she was alone since Prince Andrew was always away due to his Naval duties. Still, their relationship reignited and brought Princess Eugenie into their lives in 1990.
Two years later, they decided to separate. While they were still not divorced at that time, Ferguson made headlines when the public spotted her sunbathing without a top. She was also seen in a toe-sucking scandal as she put her feet in the mouth of financial advisor John Bryan.
The scandal, unfortunately, became one of the most damaging and embarrassing events for the royal family. This led to their agreement to divorce. Prince Andrew and Sarah then decided to finalize their separation in 1996.
As of the writing, the Duke of York deals with another headache as his alleged accuser filed a lawsuit against him. He was recently served of the official documents and is expected to appear before the U.S. court soon.
