The Avengers star Scarlett Johansson revealed that she was the second choice to play Marvel’s Black Widow after Emily Blunt rejected the role.
Black Widow is just one of the many superhero characters in Marvel that has gained a lot of attention because of her unique role as a Russian spy. Furthermore, Black Widow’s espionage and fighting skills are critical in Shield’s heroic missions.
After being part of the Avengers team for the last eight years, there’s no one better to portray the role of Black Widow other than Scarlett Johansson. However, the actress had recalled being initially rejected by the producers.
Black Widow was initially offered to Emily Blunt
Scarlett Johansson had opened up about having a wonderful meeting with the filmmaker, Jon Favreau for the Iron Man movie, but she did not get the part.
The Huntsman actress, Emily Blunt was initially the first choice of Marvel to play the role of Black Widow before it was handed to Scarlett Johansson. Blunt who was the original cast of the character had conflicts with her shooting schedules.

Emily Blunt was also shooting her movie with Jack Black, Gulliver’s Travel, at the same time as Iron Man 2. With the conflicting work schedules, she was forced to drop the role, and Johansson took over.
Scarlett also revealed that after being cast as Black Widow, she appreciated the role after being rejected. Although she was the second choice, she did not have ill feelings towards it because she has been constantly rejected for film roles, even as a kid.
Black Widow movie trailer’s official release date
Scarlett Johansson’s stand-alone film, Black Widow was supposed to be released on the 24th of April this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Marvel has moved the release date later this year on November 6, 2020.
The Black Widow movie takes place after Captain America: Civil War, and before the events of Avengers: Infinity War. The film is directed by Australian filmmaker, Cate Shorthand, who is best known for the Nazi drama, Lore.
The trailer had been released months ago. It revealed new action scenes and darker conspiracy plots. The trailer has little information and it gives a glimpse of Natasha Romanoff’s earlier life as a spy.

What to expect from the movie
The film which was shot in several settings such as London, Budapest, Morocco, and Atlanta will bring Natasha Romanoff in a dark place on her own. Johansson revealed that her character in Black Widow will be dealing with herself because she’s at a point where she has no one to turn to.
Johansson will be joined by the Little Women actress, Florence Pugh as Yelena to be her second lead.
