Scarlett Johansson gave her fans a hint about Black Widow’s future in the MCU.
Before the release of Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson, reportedly, claimed that it would be her last Marvel film. She never spoke about her departure directly, until she appeared in a new interview.
Johansson told Fatherly this week that she is ready to let go her role as Black Widow on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She also clarified that she has no plans to return as Natasha Romanoff again.
“I feel really satisfied with this film,” she said . “It feels like a great way to go out for this chapter of my Marvel identity.”
Her decision not to return to play her titular role makes sense, though. In Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow sacrificed her life in order to obtain the Soul Stone.
Meanwhile, Black Widow serves as a prequel to all those events, telling the story of her life as she confronts her past.
Johansson gives her fans hope
Although she does not want to play Black Widow anymore, the actress expressed her desire to work with Marvel Studios again in other ways.
“I would love to be able to continue to collaborate with Marvel in other ways because I think there’s just an incredible wealth of stories there,” she said. “Re-imagining this genre is something that I find very interesting.”
The actress added that the MCU has endless of opportunities to tell the timeline stories in different ways.
Her first and last movie will serve as the first Marvel film in two years since the pandemic began. Originally, the studio scheduled to release it during the first half of 2020.
For now, she seemingly wants to focus on her personal life as she waits for the coming of her baby no. 1 with Colin Jost.
This month, a source told Page Six that the couple is expecting their first child together. They also want to make their parenthood as private as possible.
“Scarlett is actually due soon, I know she and Colin are thrilled,” one said, before another added, “Scarlett is pregnant but has been keeping it very quiet. She has been keeping a very low profile.”
Her pregnancy, reportedly, prevented her from attending Black Widow premieres. Usually, Johansson would always appear on the events and spend some time out every summer.
For this year, Scarlett Johansson has been noticeably private and out of the limelight.
