According to Anime News Network, School-Live!, which is also known as Gakkou Gurashi!, will finally get a sequel.
This was announced over at the official Twitter account for Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara magazines. And as revealed, the creators have titled it as Gakkou Gurashi! ~Otayori~.
The wait for the School-Live! sequel isn’t going to be that long. In fact, it’s slated to start releasing next month already.
The manga series will be in the next issue of Manga Time Kirara Forward starting Wednesday, June 24. It’s going to tell the story of what happened after the events from the ending of the predecessor.
School-Live! is written by Nitroplus‘ Norimitsu Kaihō and illustrated by Sadoru Chiba. They launched the title in the July 2012 issue of the same magazine with 12 volumes.
Not long after, the comics was adapted into a TV anime series with 12 episodes for its first season. It started airing episodes from July 2015 and finished in September of the same year.
Popular anime streaming website Crunchyroll then added the title in their roster as it was airing at that time.
After the series ended, fans started wondering if there’s going to be a season 2. There are no details yet on a follow-up but it may potentially still happen.
It was found out that the first season only covered the story arcs found in the first six volumes of the manga comics.
This means that there are still six more that can be potentially used as a material for season 2. And with a manga sequel coming up, the TV series may be up and running again.
School-Live! accumulated a good number of followers that last year, they produced a live-action film for a prequel mini-series.
It’s titled as Gakko XXX ~Mo Hitotsu no Gakko Gurashi! and it dropped on Amazon Prime Video on January 25, 2019.
The Gakkou Gurashi! series follows the life of Yuki Takeya and her school Megurigaoka High School.
She deems it to be the perfect school as she enjoys her carefree life while being a third-year high school student.
She is also a member of the School Living Club together with president Yuuri Wakasa, mature junior Miki Naoki, athletic Kurumi Ebisuzawa, supervising teacher Megumi Sakura and club dog Taroumaru.
They take pride in making the most of life at school. However, things changed when Yuki finds herself in a horrifying situation.
The club is in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and they are stuck inside their school as the sole survivors.
