Lost Judgment is not coming to PC yet, according to Sega. The Japanese company confirmed that the Yakuza spin-off will stay with the consoles for now.
PC fans of the Yakuza franchise can now get disappointed, considering the rumors that floated about Lost Judgment. Sega confirmed that it “has no plans to bring Lost Judgment to PC at this time.”
Judgment sequel will continue to be a detective story
Lost Judgment is Sega’s sequel to their wildly successful title Judgment. The latter itself is a spin-off to another successful title within the Ryu Ga Gotoku franchise, Yakuza: Like A Dragon.
The Judgment series follows private detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a serial murder in Kamurocho. As he progresses, he solves several different cases in the game, offering a detective action-adventure title.
So far, Sega confirmed that the game is coming out on all consoles. These will include the Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. PC gamers, however, will not be part of the ones who will get the experience.
“The game is being announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” said a Sega rep in an email to PC Gamer. “Sega has no plans to bring Lost Judgment to PC at this time.”
PC gamers still have a ray of hope
Lost Judgment not coming to PC is a blow to fans of the Yakuza series. The franchise has traditionally done well on the PC, being one of the game’s biggest markets. Sega has also noted how they wanted the franchise to please the PC gaming market.
The decision to not release the game on PC makes sense in some perspectives. Sega has always been wary of piracy, which is prominent on the market segment. Even then, the gamers that purchase these titles are much more.
PC gamers should lament too much, however. Reading into what the rep said, the “at this time” might mean the game will come to PC at a later date. Sure, the answer is a bog-standard reply, but the ambiguity offers a ray of hope.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon came out for PC and consoles simultaneously. Sega not releasing the game for the former is suspect, making you question what stats led them to the decision.
The game not coming to PC is almost an impossibility, but fans will never know. For now, Lost Judgment will be a treat for console fans. PC gamers still have Like A Dragon, which is available on all storefronts, including Stadia.
