Season 6 for two of Activision’s current Call of Duty titles, Modern Warfare and Warzone, started rolling out. However, the update may have triggered crash issues.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone just received another hefty update on Tuesday. The excitement for Season 6 is being cut short, however.
Numerous reports claim that the game continues to crash right after the update.
Activision investigates the issue
To address the matter at hand, Activision posted an update on Twitter. The game publisher says they are “actively investigating” the issue.
Although, Dot Esports notes that it might take a while for the devs to find and isolate the issue, and solve it.
We're actively investigating an issue where some players are experiencing crashes after the update in #ModernWarfare and #Warzone. Stay tuned for updates.

As to what is actually happening, the game outlet notes that when a crash occurs, an error message is seen on the screen display.
The error reads:
“[A]n error has occurred in the following application: (CE-34878-O) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”
The problem is likely to be severe as players are experiencing this issue three to five times in a row, per the publication. Aside from that, glitches in-game are also rampant, most especially with the subway system.
Adding to the mix is connectivity issues, which might be caused by the high traffic the game is receiving because of the players excited for the game update.
On Reddit, players are sharing the same sentiments, especially with encountering the code error “CE 34878-0.”
Game crashes constantly on PS4 since Season 6 update from CODWarzone
Based on the comments, the issue is happening to all ports—PC and consoles. For PlayStation players, others are encountering an issue with its PS Plus subscription not being read by the game.
They have the active subscription but the game requires for the subscription to play multiplayer.
Call of Duty Season 6 update
As mentioned the game received a hefty update, weighing at 20GB. There was a lot of content added as reported by Video Games Chronicles.
Modern Warfare has four new Multiplayer maps which are:
- Broadcast for 6v6 core modes
- Mailastor Tank Factory for both 6v6 and 10v10 core modes
- Station for Gunfight mode
- Verdansk Riverside for Ground War
Aside from that seven Metro stations are added to the always developing Warzone Verdansk map.
According to the patch notes posted by Infinity Ward, the devs fixed a lot of bugs and issues.
For PC players, the update came with the availability of NVIDIA Reflex, which reads:
NVIDIA Reflex is now available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, including Warzone, and will deliver latency improvements in GPU-intensive gaming scenarios on GeForce GTX 900 and higher NVIDIA graphics cards.
As of this writing, Activision has not yet given an update to the status of the investigation. So stay tuned for any development.
