Devolver Digital announced that Shadow Warrior 3 will be delayed, with the publisher aiming for an early 2022 release for their title.
Shadow Warrior 3 originally planned for a 2021 release, with no clear date from either Devolver Digital or its developer, Flying Wild Hog. From what it seems, the game needs a little more time to polish and plans to release in early 2022.
SW3 follows weird Dishonored-style gameplay
The plot of SW3 feels much different than the usual Devolver title, with a more AAA feel to it. The game follows Lo Wang in a weird fantasy world that combines a Guardians of the Galaxy-esque quirkiness with the swordplay of Hades. The game was originally announced in 2020.
Fallen corporate shogun Lo Wang and his former employer turned nemesis turned sidekick Orochi Zilla embark on an improbable mission to recapture an ancient dragon they unwillingly unleashed from its eternal prison,” said the game’s Steam description.
“Armed with a punishing mix of blades and bullets, Lo Wang must traverse uncharted parts of the world to track down the dark beast and push the apocalypse back yet again. All it will take is the mask of a dead god, a dragon’s egg, a touch of magic, and enough firepower to hold off the impending cataclysm.”
Flying Wild Hog still polishing their game
Devolver Digital did not detail the reason why Flying Wild Hog is delaying Shadow Warrior 3. From their wording, it seems they just need more time to improve on the game and polish its gameplay even further.

“Shadow Warrior 3 needs a bit more time to sharpen its blades so developer Flying Wild Hog and Devolver Digital are sliding it into early next year!” said the announcement.
“Super grateful for all the kind words of support with the Shadow Warrior 3 delay into early next year.”
The announcement they gave included a cinematic trailer for the game. Back in 2020, they released a 17-minute gameplay trailer. The game has a weird, anachronistic design to it. The game plays like Dishonored in a first-person perspective, showing off beautiful landscapes.
Players can wield blades and guns, as well as zip around the map at high-speed. The enemies have a Serious Sam feel to them, fueled by a funny middle-aged man carrying big boomsticks. Furthermore, the design points to an AAA-style title, with a lot of attention to environmental detail.
Shadow Warrior 3 should be a good game once it comes out. Fans can wait until early 2022 to get their hands on this title.
