Shock G cause of death revealed months after body discovery inside hotel room

Shock G did not die due to a natural cause. Instead, the rapper tragically passed away due to concerning reason.

Months after the authorities started the investigation surrounding the death of Shock G, they finally determined the cause of death.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s office released a summary indicating that the rapper’s death was accidental.

However, it also revealed that Shock G suffered from the effects of combined fentanyl, ethanol, and methamphetamine. The side effects of the drug overdose eventually led to his death.

The new details came one month after a hotel manager found him unresponsive inside his room at a Tampa Hotel. The hotel staff checked Shock G’s room as he, reportedly, did not check out at the hotel.

The manager then found his body instead and immediately called 911 to seek help.

Unfortunately, the 57-year-old rapper did not make it and was pronounced dead soon after.

In April, the Digital Underground’s co-founder Chopmaster J confirmed his death on Instagram.

“34 years ago almost to the day we had a wild idea: We can be a hip hop band and take on the world,” he wrote. “Long live Shock G, aka Humpty Hump. And Rest In Peace my Brotha, Greg Jacobs!”

Fans remembered rap legend again

Soon after they found out the rapper’s cause of death, internet users started sending tributes and prayers for Shock G again.

One Twitter user said, “Shock G’s music always meant a lot to me. It made me sad when he passed and to hear he died from an overdose breaks my heart. I know he’s no longer hurting. I miss you a lot #ShockG.”

“Heard the cause of death was a rumor and didn’t wanna believe it. RIP Shock G,” another wrote.

“DMX, Prince, Shock G all ODed. I really thought they were at an age where that didn’t happen and they knew better, addiction is no joke. If you need help or being told you need help Get it before its to late,” another one added.

For what it’s worth, rapper DMX also suffered from a heart attack following a drug overdose. He remained on life support for weeks before losing his life-and-death battle.

Per multiple news outlets, he died after overdosing cocaine, fentanyl, alcohol, and prescription pills. The autopsy also found out that the rapper had COVID-19 which made his health status even worse.
