After two years, Descendants of the Sun star Song Joong Ki will be returning to the MAMA stage as the event host for the fourth time.
Per Koreaboo, the global music awards ceremony to be hosted by Song Joong Ki, MAMA is held by CJ ENM, and this year is its 12th edition.
From Mnet’s Video Music Awards, it transitioned to MAMA in 2009. The show’s central theme is “NEW-TOPIA,” where fans from all around the world can gather as one.
Song Joong Ki is back!
From being the host of the program in 2018, Song Joong Ki returns to the MAMA stage for another round of hosting duties.
It is already two years since the actor held the microphone on the music awards stage. Now, he is roped into hosting the 2020 MAMA.
The Seobok star, Park Bo Gum, hosted the 2019 version of the event. Ilgan Sports revealed the new assignment of the returning host. And MAMA took to Twitter and confirmed the news soon after it broke out.
The official Twitter shared, “Came back after a long time! Introducing you to the 2020 MAMA best host, SONG JOONG KI!” This confirms the actor’s return to the stage.
Including this 2020 stint of the Descendants of the Sun alum, it is already four times since he does the hosting role.

The prolific actor first held the microphone of the show in 2012, then in 2017, and eventually returned in 2018.
The mesmerizing lineup
With the revolutionary theme and its goals to allow fans worldwide to come together as one virtually, the program will follow strict rules. This year, no face-to-face contact will take place following the COVID-19 guidelines.
Earlier, the event’s organizers revealed the star-studded lineup of performances for the show. The majestic BTS, together with SEVENTEEN, TWICE, NCT, GOT7, MONSTA X, and TXT, and more will heat-up the show’s stage.
