It’s been a long time since the Resistance series saw a new entry. Lately, however, there are have been strong rumors of a Resistance 4.
As per the latest flying reports online, Insomniac may be planning for Resistance 4 to come out soon.
‘Resistance 4’ details so far.
When it comes to the news of a possible fresh installment, an unknown fact has recently come to light. And it’s got something to do with Sony, of course, because it’s the one owning Insomniac Games.
Ongoing reports reveal that Sony had scrapped the pitch for a fourth Resistance title in the past.
The third part in the series was released about a decade ago, in 2011. That time, Insomniac’s CEO Ted Price had announced that they didn’t have any further plans for a Resistance 4.
However, he didn’t know the reason for his statement.
The third game, a first-person shooter, performed exceptionally well when it comes to the reception, if not astronomically. It also received positive reviews from critics.
Coming back to Resistance 4 then it seems like Insomniac did change its stance later. And the team then pitched the project to Sony. But the latter turned it down.
This news recently came from the Sacred Symbols podcast, where developer Colin Moriarty shared it. He said that he got to know it from one of his friends who worked at Insomniac.
Looking at the yet-to-be-announced title now, then there might be another reason why Sony canceled it.
It may be because it was already focusing on the development of other post-apocalyptic games at that time. They were Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, The Last of Us, and Killzone Shadow Fall.
