Spider-Man Miles Morales was one of the biggest titles during The Future of Gaming conference, and Insomniac Games is already busy on it. However, that isn’t to say that they aren’t working on Spider-Man 2.
In a recent blog post, Spider-Man Miles Morales, creative director Brian Horton revealed key plot details about the upcoming title. There’s a lot to dig into with the upcoming standalone game, but what could excite fans the most is basically a confirmation that Spider-Man 2 is still coming, and it could already be in development.
Peter’s not done
At the end of the blog post, Horton addressed the question that has been on the minds of fans ever since Spider-Man Miles Morales was unveiled. Since its reveal, fans of the first game were worried that Peter Parker has already put down his suit for good. However, there’s good news for those that loved Insomniac Game’s take on the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
“Many of you fans have wondered if Peter Parker is OK. Don’t worry, we still have much of Peter’s story left to tell. But this game is all about Miles, a critical part of our Spider-Man universe, and you won’t want to miss what happens,” says Horton.
His statement confirms that there’s still more of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man coming to the PlayStation 5. It might already be in development as well. It also means that the upcoming standalone game is going to set the pace for Spider-Man 2, which sort of coincides with allegedly leaks a few months back.
Sequel details allegedly surface
A few months back, gameplay and story details about a potential sequel were leaked online. The rumors were to be taken with a grain of salt, but with the announcement of Spider-Man Miles Morales, the leaks now seem more true.
The leaks reveal that players will be able to play as both Miles and Parker in the sequel. Based on Horton’s statement, the mentor-trainee duo might potentially work hand-in-hand to face bigger threats like Mysterio and others in the sequel.
When it comes to the arc to be tackled, the creative director of the first game, Bryan Intihar, did express his interest in the Black Suit saga, which of course, introduces Venom.
Spider-Man 2 might still be far off, considering that there’s a standalone title releasing soon. Hopefully, the game between Spider-Man Miles Morales and the actual sequel aren’t going isn’t going to be too far apart.
