Spider-Man 3 may feature three Spideys with Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield joining Tom Holland. Sony addresses the rumors about the casting.
Spider-Man 3 is arriving next year and Tom Holland might find himself with two more Spider-Mans. Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield who also played the titular superhero role are rumored to join him. Sony released a statement to address the speculations.
Spider-Man 3 will have 3 Spideys
There are rumors that Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire who played as Spider-Man before Tom Holland, will join him in Spider-Man 3. Some news outlets already confirmed those speculations by citing sources with knowledge about the production.
A rep for Sony Pictures released a statement about the rumors and didn’t confirm nor deny the speculations.
“Those rumoured castings are not confirmed,” the speaker told ET Canada.
Tom Holland the best Spidey
Tom Holland has become even more popular after donning the Spider-Man’s suit. He made his debut as Spier-Man in the “Civil War.” He immediately won the audience which scored him two solo movies and two more are coming.
Rachel Leishman, an associate editor at The Mary Sue, tweeted four photos of Spider-Man and asked her followers to choose one to go. Many picked Tobey Maguire. But the tweet also became a discussion on who among the three actors played the titular role the best and the majority picked the youngest Spider-Man, Tom Holland.
Writer Jessica Ellis chose Maguire because she disliked him and he came off as insincere and his Spidey wasn’t funny enough. She liked Garfield’s manic energy but picked Holland as the best Peter.
I really disliked his take. He’s supposedly a jerk in real life, and his Peter came off as insincere and his Spidey as not funny enough. I liked Garfield’s slightly manic energy, he actually made it seem like he could spin out of control. Holland is the best Peter.

“For those who say ‘Tom or Holland’ let me explain why you’re wrong lol… he was the only one to do REAL numbers in box office and was relatable in each (of the 6 movies) he played in— as Spider-Man.. he’s carrying this mantel farther than either Tobey or Andrew could have,” another wrote.
“@TomHolland1996 is the best Spider Man ever!!!! Anyone with a contrary view, please fight with your toaster,” another added.
What else to expect in the upcoming Spider-Man movie
Since Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man already died in Endgame, so a new actor will join Tom Holland’s Peter Parker to play as his mentor and father figure. Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will be part of the upcoming film.
His addition is significant in boosting Parker’s morale who is still mourning over Iron Man’s death.
“I just really miss him,” Parker said in one scene of Spider-Man: Far from Home referring to Stark.
“Everywhere I go, I see his face. And the whole world is asking who’s gonna be the next Iron Man and I don’t know if that’s me Happy. I’m not Iron Man.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Foxx will also join as Electro. The character was first introduced in Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man 3 is coming out in December 2021.
