Spider-Man series will soon come to an end, just like what happened to Iron Man. After years of being with Sony, the movie of the friendly neighborhood seemingly received the possible plot for its last film.
Since the early 2000s, director Sam Raimi continuously graced the franchise and gave justice to the notable superhero. He created The Amazing Spider-Man reboots before leaping one step toward his current collaboration with Sony.
Bringing back Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not easy, that even its current actor, Tom Holland, poured his efforts to make the plan work.
Ahead of the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a new report revealed Sony’s plan on how it would end the series.
Goodbye, Spidey?
A new report by Deadline’s Hero Nation Podcast (via TheDirect) revealed that the entertainment company wants to mark the end of Spider-Man’s stint with special villains’ appearances.
The article disclosed that Sony has been planning for a movie featuring the whole Sinister Six. The upcoming Spider-Man film seemingly hints at the possibility of it, as well.
“Because Sony’s always kept, outside of the current Spider-Man stuff they’re doing with the Disney MCU, Sony’s always kept their Marvel stuff separate, and with this Venom, they’re actually going to connect to the Spider-Man universe [that’s being set-up with the] Disney MCU,” Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro said.
He added that bringing back the villains is Sony’s long-term goal. In return, fans have also been waiting for it to happen in the MCU.
Still, this should be taken with a grain of salt as the studio is still working on several projects. As of the writing, Sony is scheduled to drop Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius. The Venom‘s film is said to have a direct connection with Holland’s Spider-Man.
The MCU also began connecting the lines to one universe, as Jamie Fox’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock will appear in the upcoming installment.
But director Sam Raimi offered an initial reaction to the movie, calling Doc Ock’s return as something beautiful.
“He looks great, the animation’s great. I’m assuming it’s not puppeted because when we did Doc Ock, we had puppets and animation for his octopus tentacles,” he said during a conversation about Netflix’s Nightbooks.
“But it was smooth and powerful and I loved his costume they kept [from the original]. I think it’s gonna be a great movie.”
Spider-Man: No Way Home will arrive in theaters on December 17.
