Square Enix revealed Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker, their upcoming expansion to their massively successful MMORPG, coming around November of this year.

In a reveal during Square Enix’s Digital Fan Festival, director Naoki Yoshida and his team shared the next update. Known as Update 6.0, Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker will come this fall, around November 2021.

Final Fantasy 14 expansion delayed due to pandemic

Almost every other year, Final Fantasy 14 receives a new expansion to keep the game alive. In general, it gets a fresh coat of paint every summer, so fans expected an update any time soon. The little bit of delay likely comes from the pandemic.

Japan so far is hit with a second wave of the COVID-19. With the size of the expansion, the delays were pretty much in order.

The news of the expansion came with the reveal of the game’s upcoming Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition will be massive, coming with a Warrior of the Light statue, in-game artwork, and even a mini-plush.

For those who are looking to pre-order, there are also digital bonus items waiting for them. Fans can get a Wind-Up Palom minion in-game, together with a Menphina Earring. The Collector’s Edition will have buyers get Porom, the Arion Mount, and a Death Scythe glamour.

The prices for the Collector’s Edition are not revealed yet. In the past, many of these costs somewhere around $200 for the entire set.

Endwalker trailer shows off new locations

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker came out with a trailer, showing off some new additions. For starters, Estinien and other Scions get new additions. The trailer also showed off new places to play and explore for those who are ready to play.

The storyline comes after Shadowbringers and will have some elements borrowed from Final Fantasy 4. The digital Fan Festival dropped some crucial infodump about their future release too.

For starters, FF14 expansions will not come in disc versions now. When players pre-order, a redemption code will come with the physical goodies. This streamlines the process across various platforms, including Xbox, Playstation, and PC.

The game is pushing to close out Update 5.0 over the weekend. There are goodies in store for players, and the in-game celebrations will be expansive. Fans can tune in to Twitch to join the festivities too.

Final Fantasy 14 Endwalker will come out on November 23, 2021. For those who want to see what’s awaiting them for Update 6.0, the trailer is also officially out on their Youtube channel.
