Japanese developer and publisher Square Enix dropped an interesting announcement trailer for yet another Kingdom Hearts spin-off game called Melody of Memory.
The Kingdom Hearts franchise has been going all-in the st couple of years, with the recent release of its third mainline installment and its major DLC ReMind, along with the upcoming card-based mobile title Dark Road.
It seems that Square Enix has no intention of stopping there, however, as they just announced plans of dominating the rhythm game market as well, with yet another spin-off title known as Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory.
Kingdom Hearts meets Theatrhythm
Melody of Memory’s nearly two minutes long reveal trailer introduces quite a bit of gameplay footage, while also giving fans a glimpse of what the title has in store plot-wise.
The first half of the video shows off Sora and friends dispatching baddies to the beat of some of the franchise’s most iconic songs. Unsurprisingly, Melody of Memory ‘s gameplay mechanics bears some resemblance to Square Enix’s other rhythm title Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.
Judging by the trailer, the game looks to give gamers the chance to relive some of Kingdom Hearts’ greatest moments, with the gameplay montage featuring iconic locales such as Destiny Islands, Agrabah from Aladdin, the Colosseum from Hercules, and Roxas and Co. in Twilight Town.
Melody of Memory seems to be more than just a rehash of scenes, though, since Square Enix made sure to also include a story portion to the reveal that mainly focused on Kingdom Hearts’ main female protagonist Kairi, possibly hinting at her being the lead this time around.

Square Enix Japan teases Melody of Memory on their website
Developer and publisher Square Enix‘s Japanese website currently displays a few screenshots of the game, along with some text that is, unsurprisingly, in Japanese.
Fortunately, video game publication Gematsu has provided an English translation for the content, which fans can check out here.
According to the gaming website, Melody of Memory will allow players to choose from a wide selection of Kingdom Hearts characters, with Disney icons popping in and out of their respective levels.
Moreover, the rhythm title will have a massive catalog of more than 140 songs and will feature four different modes of play, including online battles.
