The rumor mill for Starfield is grinding its gears, as games insider and reporter Jeff Grubb confirms that Bethesda’s next title will be an Xbox and PC exclusive.
A few days ago, a substantial leak of images came from Starfield. These show minute details of the game’s UI and art assets. So far, the most valuable detail is the confirmation that the title will stay within Microsoft’s platforms for the time being.
Games insider Jeff Grubb confirms rumors
According to a reply tweet by games insider Jeff Grubb, he confirmed that the universal exploration title will stay with Microsoft. This was one of the biggest rumors ever since the acquisition of Bethesda.
Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that. https://t.co/j78Msk8nyG

“Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that,” said Grubb, who is known for the quality of the rumors he details. Grubb also detailed that a Borderlands spinoff is also in the works in another tweet.
Just a few weeks ago, Youtuber Rand Al Thor detailed how he heard the same thing. This information is something that almost everyone predicted. Microsoft paid $7.5 billion to acquire Bethesda’s many studios, so their future IP will likely stay exclusive.
“I’ve been told, by very reliable people, that Starfield was 100% an Xbox exclusive,” said Rand Al Thor in a podcast. “I’ve even made bets about it, and I don’t bet unless I know I’m willing to bet.
“So I’m really, really confident that Starfield is only releasing on Xbox when it does and I’ve been told as well that Microsoft is trying their hardest to get the game out for this holiday. They really want Starfield out this holiday.”
Zero information on what Starfield will be
The rumor that Starfield will stay as an Xbox and PC exclusive should still be taken with a grain of salt. Many multi-platform proponents note how Microsoft would want to make the most profit for the game.
Even then, history sides with exclusives. Microsoft’s Head of Gaming Phil Spencer once noted how much is excited for Bethesda.
“This is the next step in building an industry-leading first party studios team, a commitment we have to our Xbox community,” said Spencer in a post.
“With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.”
Starfield is still a mystery to fans everywhere. Bethesda is very stingy with information for the game, opting to turn up the dial when it’s near completion.
