Some states across the US have created their own forms of stimulus check and relief payment to help their respective residents further amid the COVID-19.
The Omicron variant continues to spread across the globe. As its reach expands further, many Americans wonder whether a new stimulus check will arrive soon.
Despite the apparent calls for a new relief payment, no official announcements have yet to emerge. Accordingly, the future of new financial aid amid the pandemic remains uncertain.
Amid the existing discussions, though, The Sun reported that a final surprise payment will soon become available for some individuals. The last batch will reportedly be disbursed on December 31, 2021 across Connecticut.
One-time stimulus check for work returnees
Eligible Americans across the state will receive a new stimulus check under its “Back to Employment” program. The publication noted that the amount is up to $1,000, adding that it is a one-time relief payment.
The program, which began on May 30, 2021, will officially conclude on the last of the year. State Governor Ned Lamont previously said that this bonus payment will help some individuals “pay for the critical things they need to get back to work.”
Accordingly, the qualifying individuals are only those who have returned to work in between the program’s commencement and conclusion date.
Details about the relief payment
To qualify for the surprise stimulus check in Connecticut, the applicant should have obtained and maintained a full-time job for eight consecutive weeks. This should have happened between May 30, 2021 and December 31, 2021.
The applicant should not have filed an unemployment compensation weekly claim with the state. This applies to the eight consecutive weeks of employment.
For the actual application, it is a requirement to complete and submit the Back to Work CT program form. However, it must be done electronically as no paper applications will be accepted.
About the possibility of the fourth stimulus payment
States, like Connecticut, continue to take the matter of additional stimulus payments into their own hands. This comes as the federal government has yet to make official announcements regarding the fourth COVID-19 relief check.
But, as this dynamic goes, experts believe that it has become more “unlikely” for the government to create more stimulus payments, according to Deseret News. As stated, the odds of another round are “fairly slim.”
Even so, the public remains hopeful and eager to receive new batches of a stimulus check come the new year. There is even a recurring petition for it, with millions of Americans supporting the move.
