Some US states continue to disburse their own forms of stimulus check.
The buzz surrounding stimulus check remains apparent across the United States. Despite the uncertainties regarding its future, many Americans wonder whether new payments will emerge.
As this dynamic goes on, several U.S. states launched their respective relief checks to help their citizens. The Sun reported that one of these efforts is the “return to work” plan, with Arizona having the largest check amount for its recipients.
Return-to-work bonus for some Americans
The proposal first emerged in the state back in May. Governor Doug Ducey explained that the move would see many Americans across Arizona rejoin the workforce by Labor Day, September 6.
He noted that this form of stimulus check would “encourage people to work instead of paying people not to work.”
The publication explained that unemployed Americans received weekly benefits under the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation. Arizona ended its inclusion in the program on July 10.
Under the return-to-work bonus scheme, Arizonans who landed a full-time job would receive a one-time $2,000 check. As for those who got part-time positions, a one-time AU$1,400 cash payment was in place for them.
The payment only applies to those who returned to work between May 13, 2021 and September 6, 2021. They should no longer receive unemployment benefits, and must be in employment for eight weeks to qualify.
Other similar relief payments across the U.S.
Arizona is not the only one that offers this kind of stimulus check. There are few other states, as well, that have “return-to-work” bonus schemes.
Marca previously reported that Colorado was the state with the second-largest check amount for those who returned to work. This only applied, however, to those who went back to the workforce in May, as the relief payment dropped from AU$2,280 to AU$1,710 a month after.
Apart from Arizona and Colorado, Kentucky and Maine also have a “back-to-work” incentive program, with a payment amounting to AU$2,130. Montana and Oklahoma have their “return-to-work” grants, as well, with which the check amounts to AU$1,710.
As for Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Virginia, all three states offer AU$1,400 checks for the same group of individuals.
Status of the fourth stimulus check
Meanwhile, no further information has been shared about the stimulus payments from the federal government. Accordingly, it remains unclear whether it will still push through or not come the new year.
Even so, millions of Americans continue to call for more stimulus check payments. This comes as the COVID-19 pandemic has yet to conclude, and the country has yet to reach full recovery.
