The Internal Revenue Service recently disbursed another batch of the third stimulus check, amounting to a total of over $4 billion.
Millions of Americans will receive their $1,400 stimulus check in the next few days. This comes after the Internal Revenue Service, Treasury Department, and the Bureau of the Fiscal Service announced the disbursement on Wednesday.
As reported, they distributed over 2.2 million checks as part of the latest set of relief payments. The estimated value of the batch is around AU$5.4 billion.
Prior to the latest disbursement, the agencies sent out 2.3 million checks and 1.8 million two weeks earlier. Fox 8 then said that this brings the total amount of payments to over 171 million.
The recipients of the new batch of payments
The publication said that 1.3 million of the 2.2 million stimulus check payments went to the eligible Americans who did not previously have contact information at the IRS, and recently filed a tax return. Meanwhile, the remaining checks were “supplemental payments” for those who filed their 2020 taxes, and made them eligible for a much larger check amount.
For those who have yet to receive their relief payments, it is reportedly likely that the checks are already on the way. But, if not, it may arrive from the upcoming batches.
As noted, the IRS has yet to complete the overall disbursements of the stimulus package. The agency then said that it would continue the release of the forthcoming payments on a weekly basis.
About the third stimulus check
The over AU$1,900 stimulus check payments are part of the American Rescue Plan package, amounting to AU$2.6 trillion. The agencies began the distribution as early as March, following the signing of the effectuality of the bill.
Only eligible Americans will receive the payments. These are the single filers earning up to AU$101,800 and joint filers earning up to AU$203,600.
The July 15 Child Tax Credit
As the disbursement of the third relief payment continues, the buzz surrounding the fourth check remains apparent. However, many are seemingly positive that it is unlikely to happen.
This comes as the country’s economy now seemingly recovers from the pandemic. In addition, the rollout of vaccines across the U.S. has been steadily increasing.
But, despite the unlikelihood of the fourth stimulus check, the government is sending other relief payments to eligible Americans. This includes the Child Tax Credit, and the distribution of which already began last July 15. It is a monthly payment for Americans with qualifying children, depending on income and age.
