New insights surround Halo Infinite once again. This time, it includes One of Microsoft’s store listing websites bearing the game as a battle royale.
Halo Infinite has received quite a mixed reaction since its extended gameplay reveal in Xbox’s latest digital event showcase. As we near the imminent release window of the highly-anticipated game, new information is coming into light.
The Microsoft Store listing
The news about Halo Infinite having a battle royale mode comes from its very own listing on Microsoft’s Japanese store. Based on the translation, the genre of the game is listed as “Battle royal shooting.”
Meanwhile, the game’s U.S. store listing counterpart only says “Shooter” for the genre.
During the weekend, Halo Infinite was confirmed to be free-to-play for its multiplayer mode, supporting a 120 fps for Xbox Series X. This news, however, is now getting linked to the possibility of having a Halo Infinite battle royale mode.

As Comicbook reports, “One obvious reason for it being free is if the title will in fact go the Warzone route and include a free-to-play battle royale mode alongside everything else.”
Will Halo Infinite sell as a battle royale title?
The battle royale genre is, indeed, quite the trend lately. So many titles have sprung since the success of PUBG, Free Fire, Rules of Survival (ROS), and Fortnite. Activision has also achieved such success with Call of Duty: Warzone, and even with its mobile BR platform of the same game franchise.
What attracts many of the gamers to this scene is the free-to-play tag, which has optional battle passes or season passes.
However, Halo Infinite being a battle royale game, will likely not sit with most of its player base.
Interesting… 🤔
Japanese Xbox website shows something we like to talk a lot about #HaloInfinite all the time. #HaloBRWhat’s your thoughts on a potential BR mode coming to #Halo?

Online forum discussions, such as on Reddit, shows that the game being a BR title is just not Halo Infinite as a brand. “Let Halo be Halo,” of the Redditors emphasized.
Others say that the battle royale genre is very much saturated already.
Amazon tried to hop in on this hype train with Crucible but has hit a few snags as it reverts it back to beta. Meanwhile, Ubisoft is currently hitting it off with its Hyper Scape in open beta.
Nevertheless, the Japanese store listing on the game’s genre could just be a mistranslation. VG 24/7 notes that 343 Industries dev Jeff Easterling has confirmed before about their thoughts on battle royale for Halo Infinite. The media outlet quotes Easterling, saying, “I’ll tell you right now, the only BR we’re interested in is Battle Rifle. The original BR. So, calm yourself.”
Meanwhile, Xbox is reportedly planning to stage another digital event this August, so here’s to hoping the gaming community will hear some clarifications about this.
