Stranger Things fans shipped Robin and Steve since season 3. However, a recent revelation from the show’s cast might shatter devotees’ hopes.
During the annual earnings call of Netflix this year, the highest-grossing series of the streaming platform was revealed. Stranger Things landed on top after raking 64 million viewers for its recent season 3 premiere.
Netflix has taken this significant figure into consideration and then decided to renew the show for a fourth run.
What happens to Robin and Steve in season 4
After devotees watched the season 3 finale of Stranger Things, they were more curious about the Upside Down world. Above all, they thirsted for more romantic scenes from one of the show’s most shipped couples, Robin(Maya Hawke) and Steve(Joe Keery).
Unfortunately, Maya Hawke revealed that Robin and Steve’s character consider each other as friends. Hawke further shared in a recent interview,
“It’s very refreshing to see a bond between a man and a woman that isn’t transactional, that isn’t romantic. It’s their togetherness that comes as a true friendship in understanding through opposition. Seeing that is almost revolutionary.”
Stranger Things creators’, the Duffer Brothers, previous statement seems to coincide with Hawke’s insights. The showrunners mentioned in the past,
“Steve is doing his own thing, you know, working with Robin.”

Robin and Steve’s relationship throughout the series
Robin and Steve were former enemies in high school. However, after Steve started to work at Scoops Ahoy, a local ice cream station, he developed an unlikely friendship with Robin. Consequently, the ancillary character of Robin keeps Steve out of trouble.
Throughout the series, the duo, together with the rest of Stranger Things’ gang, defeated shadowy Russians and a horrifying Demogorgon. At this moment, Steve realized his feelings for Robin and then decided to confess. However, his hopes were dashed when Robin revealed that she was a lesbian.
Nevertheless, fans still rooted in their platonic bond after Steve proved worthy of Robin’s confidence. He further encouraged his new bestie to live authentically and choose the right girl.
