Street Fighter: Champion Edition is getting some new contents and will involve a returning combatant and new ones. A roster that will be making part of the game’s final season entries.
Beginning August 16, as part of the game’s Summer Update, Street Fighter III’s Oro will become downloadable for players. To become integral within Dhalsim’s story, the wandering hermit sticks true to lore by fighting with only a single hand. While technically having two, Oro commits to only using one by carrying a turtle on another. Bearing the same move set seen in the original, Oro’s SFV includes formidable long-range attacks using unblockable energy orb and short-range melee ones.
Coinciding Oro is yet another familiar character, but this time, from a different Capcom fighting franchise, Akira Kazama. Those who have played Rival Schools will recall the figure for her skull helmet as a brawler who likes bikes. Combat-wise, the female fighter is known for her Chinese martial art style, Bajiquan or Hakkyokuken, which itself is known for its closed-range melee attacks. The latter particularly referring to palm rushes, elbow attacks, and shoulder smashes. Making her a more formidable combatant in SFV, however, is an air-juggling combo attack.
Other Familiar Characters
While not a playable character, another persona from Rival Schools will accompany Akira in-game. Her older sibling Daigo will be making a presence as well, but only as a V-Trigger assist. There are also other cameos emanating from the same franchise, too, and will be found exclusively within the RS-inspired stage, the Rival Riverside. Namely, Akira’s team members, Edge and Gan.
New Challenger
Making for the last entry into the Champion Edition is an altogether fresh character, Luke. Making for another fighter to originate in the ring, Luke exhibits the kickboxing style, but with a twist. Aside from featuring hard-hitting punch and kicks, his move set also comprises swift and long-ranged energy-like attacks. Luke will be officially joining the game’s roster on November 2021 and will be its fifth and last for the season.
Crossover
Speaking of other Street Fighter-related news, the fighting series is also set to make an appearance in another franchise. Specifically in Fortnite as it sees both Cammy and Guile entering the battle royale as new skins, which come with their own unique emotes. There will also be an event named after the former as part of the limited-time crossover.
