BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing show is going to bring back all the best performances in a three-part special.
According to reports, the production heads have decided to put together a special episode in light of the current global health crisis.
Since the status of the 18th series is also still not certain due to the lockdown measures in the United Kingdom, they are going to release instead a compilation of all the best performances from the last 16 seasons of the show.
Fans will be able to watch again some of the best moments including those from the musical, movie and Blackpool weeks.
“The three special episodes will look back and celebrate these, bringing some much needed Strictly sparkle to the nation,” said Kate Phillips, Controller of BBC Entertainment.
The show must go on
The dance show’s three-part special will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. They will also be joined from virtually by Strictly judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Shirley Ballas.
And as a surprise, there will also be participation from other famous and familiar faces.
The audience gets involved as well with its special episodes. The show said that they are going to engage with their fans by letting them in on the fun.
They can expect to see some home videos from the show’s professional dancers, former celebrity contestants and even the Great British public.
Viewers can also send a home-made video of their reactions to some of their most loved dance routines.
And if they are daring enough, they can send a video of themselves trying the routine. The best clips will then be featured in the special episode.
“Prepare for surprises, spectacular performances and exclusive footage all from the comfort of your home,” said the show.
Is Lorraine Kelly joining the 18th series?
In other news, speculations of the upcoming 18th series of Strictly still continue to surface despite the possible postponement.
The latest to go around is Lorraine Kelly probably joining the dance contest. The Scottish TV presenter recently posted on her social media a video of her dancing alongside a professional dancer from the famous BBC series.
It easily made fans assume that she is preparing her moves for the dance contest. However, the 60-year old TV personality has neither confirmed nor denied the speculation yet.
The air date of the Strictly Come Dancing three-part special is yet to be announced.
