Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most anticipated titles of 2020, and it’s launching this week. To give a better glimpse of the game, the developers have released the launch trailer.
Ghost of Tsushima is more than just a samurai epic. It’s an ode to the way of the samurai and classic Japanese films. The amount of detail and effort put in the game is astonishing. Now, we’re getting an even better look at it with its new launch trailer.
Jin against himself
The focus of the trailer is Jin’s inner conflict regarding the events in the game. In it, he is one of the last remaining samurai that has to fend off the Mongol invasion. The invaders are using new tactics and technologies that the samurai weren’t prepared for. Hence, they lost.
To get a chance at winning against the invaders, Jin has to learn the way of the Ghost. It is a way of fighting that allows Jin to utilize the dark and the enemy’s unknowing for silent kills. As a samurai, Jin finds no honor in the way of the Ghost. However, he might have no choice but to adapt to the new method if he was to stop the invasion.
In Ghost of Tsushima, players can approach missions directly as a samurai. They can also do so covertly as a Ghost. There are merits and downsides to both of the fighting styles, and it will be completely up to the players if they want Jin to venture down the path he wants to avoid.
Other things in the trailer
Aside from Jin’s inner conflict, the trailer also showcased some of the areas we’ll be visiting in the game. The isle of Tsushima is divided into three different regions. There are over 40 biomes, and hundreds of points of interest spread throughout the map.
In the trailer, we get to see the game’s notable biomes, such as snowy mountains and even marshes. There will be even more to discover in the game, so it’ll be exciting to see just how well detailed the world is when the game launches.
Ghost of Tsushima launches this July 17 exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The upcoming game is the biggest title for Sucker Punch Productions, and yet players have a lot of expectations from it. Hopefully, the game delivers on its promises as it might even be game of the year.
