The DC Fandome live stream revealed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League today. The game is a “continuation of the Arkham-verse,” but with a twist.
In today’s live stream, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League got its introduction from Warner Bros. The recently controversial Rocksteady Studios is behind the title. It seems to play around DC’s rowdy band of misfits hunting down Superman.
New Suicide Squad game hunts off the “Big Blue Boyscout”
In the recently released trailer, WB showed off their semi-reformed do-gooder villains. The game is not due until 2022, but it is showing a bit of promise so far.
In the trailer, it seems players can take on the roles of four members of the Suicide Squad. It revealed Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, and Deadshot. The game will likely add more characters as the release date comes closer.
The footage showed a Metropolis ravaged by Brainiac. As Project Cadmus activates the Suicide Squad, they’re there not to apprehend Brainiac. Instead, they’re on the hunt for Superman.
While Superman is generally a boy scout, he’s not the goody-two-shoes hero this time. It seems Superman in-game is callously killing people, which signals an alternate universe. From the title, it also seems Superman isn’t the only target.
The subtitle “Kill the Justice League” points out to, well, killing the Justice League. Amanda Waller is not the type who kills indiscriminately. If that’s the case, the game will likely have evil versions of Wonder Woman and maybe Green Lantern.
The entire premise begs to question if the new game’s world will be an alternate Earth. There are many universes where the Justice League are evil. These include Earth-50 of the Justice Lords and the Injustice multiverse.
Suicide Squad seems to play like Marvel’s Avengers
Much of the footage for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League also revealed much gameplay. It showed a few crucial details that make its gameplay akin to Marvel’s Avengers.
For starters, players can do one to four-player co-op. Single players can change heroes at will and will have the entire team at their disposal. Each member also has their niche value within the game.
Members will have different weapons, with a variety of gadgets to help them. Deadshot and Captain Boomerang will be long-ranged, with their guns and boomerangs. King Shark and Harley Quinn will be melee, with baseball bat and cleavers.
Recently, Fandome also revealed Gotham Knights. The game, however, will have nothing in connection to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Both games will be in two entirely different universes.
