Nintendo recently surprised fans of Super Mario with a Direct that’s dedicated to gaming’s most iconic character. One of the biggest announcements was the highly anticipated Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection.
Even before the Nintendo Direct, fans were already anticipating Super Mario 3D All-Stars. It had been leaked a few months back, and now, we finally get a confirmation from Nintendo. Here’s everything we know about the title.
Release date
The collection will be available digitally and physically starting this Sept. 18. To the dismay of fans, the collection will be priced as an AAA-title, and this isn’t sitting well with everyone. Moreover, the game will be a limited release as it will be available up until March 2021 only.
Although March is still far off, those that want to secure a physical copy should act fast as these are most likely to run out quickly.
The collection
The collection will feature three 3D Super Mario games. The games include Super Mario 64 from the Nintendo 64, Super Mario Sunshine from the GameCube, and Super Mario Galaxy from the Nintendo Wii. It’s worth noting that these aren’t remastered ports. Instead, these will be the original versions made available on the Switch.
While the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection is greatly appreciated, fans have their qualms about the title. For starters, the fact that it is the original versions instead of enhanced titles leaves fans disappointed. Super Mario 64 is even the Nintendo 64 version instead of the DS version, which had better graphics.
That being said, fans are not happy that they have to pay $60 for the collection that isn’t even enhanced versions of the original. As per some users, the collection would’ve been okay if it wasn’t priced at such a high price tag.
Fans are also disappointed that only the first Super Mario Galaxy is a part of the collection. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was also made available on the Wii, and it served as a direct sequel to the first game. Oddly enough, it was not a part of the collection to the dismay of fans.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars is currently getting a mixed reception from the Super Mario fan base. Regardless, the collection of the 3D games is still a great treat for the character’s 35th anniversary. Fans are just wishing that there will be a drop in the price before the game becomes unavailable for purchase.
