‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ DLC: Everything we know so far

The Nintendo Direct held earlier this month revealed that the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC would launch this June. This will be the first character to be added in the game’s second Fighter’s Pass, but for now, we’ve yet to see who the next character is.

The new Fighter’s Pass will once again add several characters into the growing roster of the game. Once all are added, the game will have over 80 characters. Here’s everything we know so far about the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC.

Who Is It?

The Nintendo Direct earlier this year revealed that the next character would come from the Switch fighting game, ARMs. It’s worth noting that the game has a roster of over 10 characters, so it’s hard to guess who Nintendo is eyeing for the role as a DLC character. However, players already know who won’t be a part of the roster.

One of the most unlikely characters to be a part of the game’s roster is Springman, who serves as the poster boy for Arms. The reason he can’t be a part of the roster is that he already has a Spirit based on him. Moreover, there are Mii Fighter costumes for him as well.

According to leaks, however, there’s still a chance that either Springman or his robot counterpart Springtron will be the next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC.

Fans have spotted on Nintendo’s page for the game’s Amiibos that there’s a space between Sonic and Toon Link. This basically means that the upcoming Amiibo at that spot belongs to a character whose name fits between the Sonic and Toon Link when alphabetized. Coincidentally, Springman, and Springton fit that place.

Sakurai still keeps busy

The game’s director Masahiro Sakurai revealed in an interview a few months back that work on the DLC is still on-going despite the Covid-19 restrictions. The least we could expect is that the DLC will be delayed this month.

Since fans are also quick to speculate on who the future DLC characters are, Sakurai said in an interview that he has been avoiding playing some games or at least he is being forced to remain silent about the games he is playing. This is to avoid putting the wrong impression on fans who love to make guesses for the next DLC character.

The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC will release later this month. We might be getting a reveal soon, and fans are excited to see who’s next.
