The Supergirl season 5 finale will no longer proceed as planned. The cast and crew of The CW show failed to finish the finale episode before the COVID-19 lockdown.

Does Lex Luthor survive the Supergirl season 5 finale?
Jon Cryer, who plays Lex Luthor, recently teased that viewers might see more of him beyond Supergirl season 5.
According to a report, Supergirl and her team were supposed to be successful in thwarting Lex’s plans. Cryer, however, shared that the retooled finale will no longer incorporate the manner by which he gets defeated. He thinks this could mean that there is a chance for his character to reappear in the next season.

Stargirl fails to match The Flash and Supergirl
In other DC Comics adaptation news, Stargirl season 1 will debut on The CW soon. Based on early reviews, it might not be as well-received as the first season of The Flash and Supergirl.
Stargirl tells the story of a young woman who discovers a staff in their basement. It turns out it is no ordinary staff: it was formerly owned by Starman of the Justice Society of America. The superhero grouped died years ago after battling the Injustice Society.
One review said the first three episodes of the season sets up the show well. But the DC Comics adaptation cannot compare to the magnificent pilot episodes from the aforementioned two The CW shows.
More details about the series
That said Stargirl benefits from slightly better special effects (in comparison to shows in the Arrowverse). Lead star Courtney Whitmore also displays why she was cast in the role. Additionally, her gymnastic skills are used well in the show’s action scenes.
Stargirl season 1 will premiere on the DC Universe streaming service on May 18. It will then air on The CW the next evening.
