Betelgeuse has died and created a supernova near the Earth. The scientist has discovered two and a half million years old layer of manganese crust.
Betelgeuse is the 10th brightest star in the night sky. On the other hand, a few months ago, the brightness of the brightest star was dropped. Some experts say that the reason can be a supernova. Apart from this, Betelgeuse has returned to normal.
The information given by scientist tells that scientists have evidence of a stellar explosion. The explosion happened near the Earth around 2.5 million years ago. Moreover, The scientist also said that the supernova could also cause damage to Earth.
What is a supernova?
Supernova is the most powerful and luminous stellar explosion. In 1929, Walter Baade and Fritz Zwicky discovered the word supernova. In addition to that, Nova word in the supernova has been taken from the Novae. Novae are less luminous than a supernova.
A supernova happens when a white dwarf is triggered into runaway nuclear fusion. Also, this happens when a transition astronomical event occurs during the last evolutionary stage of a massive star. The most recent super Nova observed in the Milky Way. In 1604, the scientists discovered the klippers supernova.

Betelgeuse Star
Betelgeuse is the 10th brightest star in the midnight. It is 11 times more massive and 900 times more Volcanic than the sun. The current condition of Betelgeuse shows that it can because of the stellar explosion.
A researcher studies the Betelgeuse star with NASA iconic Hubble space telescope in 2019 and 2020. The study shows that from September through November 2019. A huge amount of material moving from the star’s surface to its outer atmosphere at a tremendous speed about 200000 mph.
Discovery of scientists
A research team lead by a physicist from the technical university of Munich has found a layer of manganese crust, which is two and a half million years old. The team has confirmed that they found the existence of iron 60 and Manganese 53 in the layer.
This layer had been accumulating on the surface of the ocean for years and years. The scientist has found iron-60 and level of manganese-53 in the layer by using mass spectrometry. It has been accumulating for about two and a half million years.
Dr. Gunther Korschinek told that “The increased concentrations of manganese-53 can be taken as the ‘smoking gun’—the ultimate proof that this supernova really did take place.” A supernova can affect the Earth in a massive way. A distant stellar explosion can impact the Earth’s cosmic race.
