Taylor Swift announces May 17 ‘City of Lover Concert’ special

Taylor Swift has just announced a new concert special called City of Lover Concert, which will be broadcast on ABC this coming May 17 at 10:00 P.M. EDT.

According to the official press release, Taylor Swift’s concert special will immediately follow the season finale of the reality show American Idol.

Starting on May 18, the pop superstar’s City of Lover Concert special will be made available on-demand through Hulu and Disney+.

Live from the city of love

Taylor Swift’s City of Lover Concert special was shot last September in the city of Paris, with the legendary L’Olympia Theater as the venue for the show.

This concert special sees the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter perform songs live from her most recent hit record Lover to an intimate audience.

According to ABC, the City of Lover Concert special will also give Swifties across the globe access to never-before-seen performances from the iconic star.

Taylor Swift bouncing back from a canceled tour

Taylor Swift had a full year’s worth of shows and appearances for 2020, including the highly-awaited Lover Fest, her sixth concert tour, and first-ever music festival tour.

The tour was supposed to start last April 5 in Atlanta City, Georgia, and then end on August 1 in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Less than three weeks ago, however, the singer had announced that she was canceling all of her live shows this year, due to the current coronavirus pandemic.

According to the statement she released, all of her 2020 shows in the United States and Brazil will be rescheduled next year, although no specific dates have been announced just yet.

Staying popular while staying at home

Despite the COVID-19 crisis, Taylor Swift’s stardom hasn’t shown any signs of fading, even while she’s staying at home just like the rest of her fans around the world.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that the 30-year-old superstar is appearing to spend her quarantine time together with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

Swift began dating the British thespian around three years ago, and so far, the couple has tried to keep their relationship away from the spotlight. Considering their combined fame, this will remain to be a tricky endeavor.

More recently, Swift expressed her gratitude for healthcare workers on the front lines, notably Whitney Hilton, a nurse who once went to one of the singer’s concerts.

Originally stationed at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Utah, Hilton volunteered to be deployed in New York City, one of the cities in America affected the most by COVID-19.

To thank her, Swift has since sent Hilton presents, with the nurse thanking the superstar back with an ecstatic tweet:
