Taylor Swift is one of the many citizens who want to replace Donald Trump from the office. The POTUS made a tweet before Swift’s post that irked the singer.
Black American George Floyd’s death caused an intense uproar due to the way the white officer treated him during his arrest. Floyd was cooperative, but the responding officer pinned him on the floor and kneeled on his neck.
Floyd told the officer he couldn’t breathe. However, the latter refused to let Floyd go. The violent arrest caused Floyd’s death, who was later pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A video of the incident went viral. Protesters gathered seeking justice for Floyd. The protest turned into absolute chaos when the protesters burned the police department in Minneapolis.
So, Donald Trump issued a warning against the protesters to control the protesters. Taylor Swift responded shortly.
“These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen,” The White House post on Twitter.
“Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”
The Blank Space singer was very upset about the tweet, especially because of the potential violence involved.
“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump,” Taylor Swift wrote.
Taylor Swift slamming President Donald Trump caught the attention of the netizens. In fact, according to the Hindustan Times, it became her most-liked tweet ever.
As of writing, Swift’s tweet already had 1.9 million likes.
The post that The White House made did not escape the management of Twitter. The platform placed a notice on top of it to inform the public that it violated the rules and why it was not taken down.
“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible,” the notice read.
In August 2019, Taylor Swift hosted a secret Lover listening session in Nashville. The Love Story hitmaker spoke between songs.
One fan asked Swift about her thoughts of the state under President Donald Trump’s administration, and the singer was very honest with her opinion.
“I was like the world is on fire, and she’s like yeah, we’re living in a hellscape,” Swift said according to a fan who was there, Elle reported.
