There was a commotion outside the $18 million townhouse of Taylor Swift late Sunday afternoon.
There has, reportedly, been an armed robbery with fired gunshots right next door to Taylor Swift Tribeca home.
According to the New York Post, this is the second shooting on the Tribeca section of Manhattan. Witnesses claimed that armed people went inside Patron of New York, a sneaker store at 151 Franklin Street.
Police were able to recover several shell casings scattered on the scene. Perpetrators immediately fled the scene after firing four gunshots.
Neighborhood worried about the incident
A waiter at a nearby restaurant told the Post, “Suddenly, we heard four shots, and I was freaked out.” He added, “I saw people at the scene run. They look scared and jumped into a car.”
Another Tribeca local told the outlet that they’re worried about their lives. This is the second robbery in the family neighborhood area. “It’s really concerning to see two gun-related crimes happen at the same place within a month.”
“I choose safety over access to fancy sneakers every time.”
It’s unclear if Taylor Swift was at her New York City home at the time of the robbery.
However, many locals believe that it wouldn’t be the last of the crimes that will take place in the area because of the sneakers store.
Though she is not the target of the recent crime, in March 2019, a 23-year-old man who had been stalking the “Folklore” hitmaker broke into her townhouse and ransacked it.
In 2015, another stalker was sentenced between two and four years in prison after repeatedly stalking the “Lover” singer.
He used a ladder to climb into Swift’s terrace at Tribeca and smashed through a glass door using a concrete block.
Taylor Swift’s Tribeca homes
In 2017, Taylor Swift dropped $18 million for a four-bedroom townhouse designed by architect-designer Leopoldo Rosati.
Her home comes with a spa, a gym, a Japanese paper glass wall, and beautiful antique French oak floors.
But she also purchased a second-floor apartment in the neighboring building in Franklin street, which she bought for $9.75 million and a penthouse duplex for almost $20 million.
In 2018, several reports said that the Grammy award-winning singer had plans of connecting her townhouse with a planned connecting entryway from the other building that houses her penthouse duplex and her second-floor unit.
It’s not surprising for Taylor Swift to splurge on real estate, since she currently has a net worth of about $360 million, according to Forbes.
