Accordingly, the Call of Duty League signs TeamSpeak for a three-year contract deal, integrating its in-game communication to the already highly technical system of one of the world’s famous eSports leagues.
The partnership comes timely as the league has just finished its Seatle Home Series. This is reportedly its fourth online event since the global pandemic started. The league is scheduled to start its next online series, the Minnesota Home Series this June 5-7.
With the pandemic still keeping all the physical events from happening indefinitely, Activision Blizzard must be looking for a strong in-game communication to keep its eSports events run smoothly.
Esports Insider highlights that the partnership includes a “global digital marketing program.” This means that TeamSpeak will also be working with Activision Blizzard to handle the Call of Duty League brand sponsors and public campaigns.
TeamSpeak will also handle “stadium activations,” once it is already safe to conduct physical tournament events.
The media outlet quotes the statement of VP of Global Partnership Development at Activision Blizzard eSports, Jack Harari, about the partnership:
“TeamSpeak offers best-in-class broadcast communications capabilities that we rely on to empower and optimize our teams and players. We have an obvious advantage entrusting TeamSpeak to provide this critical part of our operations in highly competitive environments where seamless voice communications are critical to successful broadcasts of live competition.”
Meanwhile, TeamSpeak is equally excited with this eSports partnership as its CEO, Ian Bamford expresses that by being chosen as the broadcast communication partner of a league as prestigious as that of Call of Duty, it is a “strong indicator” of the company’s highly competitive and impressive technology.
Bamford promises to “ensure seamless in-game communications for every scenario, whether all-virtual, or for live, in-person events.”
TeamSpeak is a voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) application for in-game audio communication, similar to Discord. The company actually also signed a three-year deal with the Overwatch League.
What makes TeamSpeak very favorable to eSports organizers is that it can work online and offline, and it is highly known for its ” low latency and low resource usage.” This provides a very minimal match interruption.
On its website, the company offers a TeamSpeak Tournament Edition package, that is suited for all eSports events, whether online, LAN, or virtual.
