Tech insider unceremoniously leaks Apple iPhone 12 prices

In a rather shocking fashion, prices for the upcoming Apple iPhone 12 were suddenly revealed by a reliable tech source.

Jon Prosser, the man behind Front Page Tech, revealed the prices of the upcoming Apple iPhone 12. Apple has yet to comment on this, so this leak should be taken with a grain of salt.

However, Prosser is a prominent figure in the tech circle. He has revealed important tech details in the past, most of which appears to be accurate. Now, he is setting his sight to the upcoming iPhone.

Apple iPhone 12 details

If the leaks are true, Apple appears to be working on four iPhone 12 variants. Each of these variants differ in screen size, and they each sports different specs and features. All upcoming iPhones will support 5G technology.

First, the 5.4-inch iPhone 12. This device has a codename D52G, and it features a 5.4-inch OLED screen and dual camera setup. This model costs $649.

There is also the 6.1-inch iPhone 12 model with a codename D53G. It has an OLED screen and also features a dual camera setup. This model costs $749.

The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro has a codename D53P. It has an OLED screen, triple camera setup, and supports LiDAR for distance measurement. This model costs $999.

Lastly, there is the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max which has a codename D52G. It has an OLED screen, triple camera setup, and LiDAR. This model costs $1,099.

What’s new with these iPhones

Apple’s pricing scheme for its upcoming flagship lineup is interesting. While many tech commentators note that the new iPhones are somewhat similar to their predecessors, the addition of 5G support is a real game changer.

The adoption of 5G technology is not that massive yet in the United States, but it has interesting potential, especially when it comes to data transmission. Moreover, many are expecting the country to massively rollout 5G technology within the foreseeable future.

In contrast, Samsung is offering its 5G capable flagship devices at a much steeper price range. The Samsung Galaxy S20 costs $999.

The entry-level model of the upcoming iPhone is also relatively cheaper compared to its predecessors. The introduction of the LiDAR sensor opens up the potential that Apple is working on Augmented Reality.

Lastly, the upcoming iPhone 12 models are expected to sport the powerful A14 chipset. Rumors around this chip is that it is capable of MacBook Pro-grade performance. The introduction of OLED screens is also a welcome upgrade.
