‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ CGI reboot brings big names on board

A CGI animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is underway. Paramount has teamed up with the biggest companies and talents to produce the movie.

Two years ago, Paramount announced that a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot was in the works. Since the news came out, the network has not given any production updates regarding the project. However, this might not be the case now as major details about the upcoming title have been pouring in.

Paramount teams up with Nickelodeon, Point Grey Pictures, and more creative talents

Recently, Paramount has divulged that it will be handling global distribution for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Moreover, the company is teaming up with Nickelodeon, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg’s production company, and Point Grey Pictures, to bring this movie to life.

James Weaver will serve as the producer, and Jeff Rowe, famous for the animated show Gravity Falls, will helm the film. In addition, Brendan O’Brien, who was well-known for the Neighbors: Sorority Rising film, was tapped to write the screenplay.

Reportedly, the forthcoming installment will be CGI animated. This has not been done since 2007 since the last two films which premiered between these years were live-action ones. Nevertheless, this decision was not surprising because the CGI animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in 2007 was a huge success.

What to expect in the plot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot

As of press time, no details have been unveiled regarding the plot of the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. However, fans can expect to witness a similar basic premise as the previous films and the Nickelodeon series.

This means that the CGI animated title will still revolve around the comic book characters, which were created decades ago. It will follow the adventures of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, as well as their rat mentor, Splinter.

After being exposed to a strange mutagen, the five characters were transformed into humanoids, and their intelligence was boosted. With their martial arts skills, the Turtles protect New York City from the forces of evil. Their adversaries include Shredder and his Foot Clan, Krang, and Baxter Stockman.

Co-creator and director share sentiments about the upcoming film

The news about the upcoming reboot was well-received by fans. With this at hand, the film’s helmers have decided to also share their insights about the title. Co-creator Kevin Eastman discussed the two previous films and further revealed his excitement for the preceding one. He said:

“The fans’ reactions, plus and minus, to the 2014 and 2016 movie, Paramount had taken those reactions to heart and where they’d like to see the next reiteration go to. So I think it’s going to be a next-level type of stuff which I’m excited to see.”

Furthermore, director Jeff Rowe took to Twitter to express his excitement on working on the project. He wrote:

“When I was five my best friends were four sewer-dwelling, pizza-eating, crime-fighting turtles named after Renaissance artists. It’s my absolute pleasure to join Nickelodeon, Brendan O’Brien, and the team at Point Grey in reintroducing them to the world.”
