The publisher behind the popular Tera MMORPG has announced its shutdown in a Facebook post.
Free-to-play MMORPG’s have been around in the gaming realm for quite some time. This year, Star Wars: The Old Republic has been included in the Steam library and it has garnered a daily average of 15,000 players.
En Masse Entertainment is also the publishers behind the 2014 anime-style MMORPG game called Closers. However, this announcement left some Tera fans devastated.
Despite the heartbreaking news, they did assure that the support for both Tera and Closers will continue. En Masse also said in the post that they will focus on helping their team to find new opportunities.
Taking a trip down memory lane
Tera has become an established MMORPG title over the years debuting last 2012. It became a free-to-play title in 2013 and through the years it had a great fan base over at North America.
Eventually, the MMORPG has been ported to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles last 2018 and since then, it is still one of the most played MMOs.
One YouTuber even posted a video this year if Tera is still worth playing and we’ve seen how much the gameplay has improved with over 7 races and 13 classes to choose from.
Known for it’s “true action combat,” Tera is still able to stand on its own amidst the wide availability of MMORPGs.
Where will En Masse go from here?
With En Masse Entertainment announcing its exit, netizens are speculating that Bluehole may take over the business. Bluehole is also the developer that owns the pioneer battle royale PUBG.
Fans hope that the team at En Masse will able to find greener pastures moving forward as Tera maintains its Steam presence with having almost 1,000 active players a day.
